PSE&G Planned Power Outage Locations: Sunday, October 11th

outages

Mayor 10 11 PSEG

In late August, I met with representatives from PSE&G about frequent power outages in the northern side of town throughout the summer. It has been decided that in order for PSE&G to complete these upgrades, a planned outage period in the affected area of approximately 5 hours is required. Please see the corresponding map of affected area.

Last week, Chief Farrell, the Borough Administrator, Public Information Officer and I met with the team from PSE&G to identify a day for this planned outage that would result in the least amount of disruption to residents, especially those working from home. We are well aware that there will never be a perfect day and time to choose, but we believe Sunday, October 11th between approximately 8am-1pm will be the least disruptive to the greatest number of residents. Representatives from PSE&G will be providing letters to those affected later this week.

An extended outage allows PSE&G employees the necessary time to fix the ongoing issues they’ve been managing. It will minimize further unplanned outages and expedite the overall project completion that will ultimately repair and improve the service to the affected area.

Please note, the traffic light at Park Ave and Franklin Place will also be affected by this outage, which RPD will be managing.

The reason for this work is because the current infrastructure is over 70 years old. PSE&G has been working on plans to upgrade our region as a whole to modernize the infrastructure.  This short-term disruption is necessary for a long-term solution.

I thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding during this frustrating issue. Please reach out to Public Information Officer Kim Bogosian at 201-460-3022 if you have a medical condition or other issue that we should be aware of that requires additional resources.
