Service Road at the Route 3/Route 17 Interchange Closed Beginning Monday

The Service Road at the Route 3/Route 17 Interchange to be closed beginning Monday in Rutherford, Bergen County
Closure to remain in place through October to replace drainage pipe

(Trenton) – The Route 3/Route 17 Service Road is scheduled to be closed and detoured in both directions between Bergen Logistics and Extended Stay American Suites beginning Monday, August 17 through October 2026 for corrugated metal pipe replacement in Rutherford, Bergen County.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, August 17, the Route 3/Route 17 Service Road is scheduled to be closed and detoured in both directions through October 2026, between Bergen Logistics and Extended Stay American Suites. Access to both businesses will be maintained during construction. The closures are necessary to replace a corrugated metal pipe underneath the roadway. The following detours will be in place:

Route 3/Route 17 Service Road from Bergen Logistics Detour:
• Motorists leaving Bergen logistics on the Route 3/Route 17 Service Road will be directed to stay right toward Route 3 westbound to continue on Service Road, which becomes Barrows Avenue
• Turn left onto Orient Way
• Turn left onto Rutherford Avenue/Route 17
• Stay right to take the ramp to Service Road EXITS/Wall Street West/Veterans Boulevard/Barrows Avenue Route 3/Route 17 Service Road from Extended Stay American Suites Detour:
• Motorists leaving the Extended Stay American Suites on the Route 3/Route 17 Service Road will be directed to stay left toward Route 17 southbound/Lyndhurst, which becomes Rutherford Avenue
• Turn right onto Orient Way
• Turn right onto Barrows Avenue, which becomes Service Road

This is work is part of a $11.1 million state-funded maintenance contract that will make improvements and repairs to stormwater facilities in various locations throughout Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.
