Deadline to Register for the 2026 General Election:  October 13, 2026

Mailing of the Official Vote-By-Mail Ballots for the General Election will begin September 19, 2026.  To check your status contact the Bergen County Clerk’s office at 201-336-7020 or email bergencountynj.gov.

Mail-In Ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day or may be deposited into any Secure Ballot Drop Box within Bergen County, no later than 8:00 pm on Election Day.  For your convenience, there is a Drop Box located in front of Borough Hall, 176 Park Avenue.  Mail-In ballots may also be delivered to 1 Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack prior to 8:00 pm on Election Day.

In-Person Early Voting is available from October 24^th through November 1^st, 2026.  Kindly check the County website for locations at https://www.bergencountyclerk.gov/elections.

Note, that the Borough Clerk’s Office will no longer be tallying results or distributing any information on election night since we do not have access to “early voting results” or “vote by mail” tabulations.

PRIMARY ELECTIONS are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June. The Primary is held to nominate party candidates for the General Election and to elect party members of the State and County Committees and Delegates and Alternate Delegates to the National Conventions in Presidential Election years. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

GENERAL ELECTIONS/SCHOOL ELECTIONS are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November to elect various National, State, County and Municipal officials to office. Polls for the Primary and the General Elections are open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

SPECIAL ELECTIONS may be held at various times throughout the year, but generally on a Tuesday. Notification of such elections is advertised in your local newspapers.
